So, someone known as Professor Nardi has managed to get the attention of the people at University of California Irvine to grant him $100,000 so that he could study World of Warcraft. This is what you can study in this modern age, yes, a PC game or the hottest PC game in the world. 

According to this Professor Nardi, the reason why she wants to study World of Warcraft is because if this,

"Chinese people play the more challenging form of World of Warcraft almost exclusively. They find the less challenging form of the game ‘boring.’ Here, about 50 percent play the challenging form of the game and there, about 95 percent do."

The truth is, no one really sure why she would want to study that. I mean what is so interesting about studying the subject: World of Warcraft. It is a game and apparently she also wants to find out why the American games have more mods than the Chinese games. 

Does it matter, really?

Perhaps she has a problem accepting the fact that the Americans and Chinese are different. Americans tend to be more lazy and therefore mods are there to help them play the game. On the other hand, without mods, the games can be boring especially when you can’t get pass a certain level.

It is frustrating so that is why mods are there and there is no further reasons to be studied. Another fact about the Chinese is that most of the WOW players play from the cyber cafes so it is not allowed to install mods on those PCs.

$100,000 is a lot of money and to be spent on studying a PC game? I think it is better off studying cure for cancer or help those needy people. I just can’t imagine what she would do with the money.

Brewfest Keg Runs is one of the events at Brewfest and here are some tips on how to master the event and perhaps emerge as the winner as well. These are very useful tips so be sure to read all of them carefully. You might be able to win something if you emerge as the winner so good luck.

1. Take a walk (or run) up and down the course before you start the race. Find out where all of the apple barrels are on the course. There should be one at the beginning, one at the end, and two spaced out in the middle. You don’t need all four of them, but knowing where they are is the important part.
2. Let’s pick which ones you want to use. Let’s number them: The barrel at the beginning is #1, and they’re in numerical order from there, #4 at the end. Ignore #1 and #3. Pretend they don’t exist. They aren’t there. There are only two apple buckets, #2 and #4.

1. Put your ram reins on your action bar somewhere, don’t try to click it in your bags(Ed’s note: I usually bind them to the E key, since I almost never strafe, and it’s just a short reach away from the movement keys). You want to steer with your mouse, and use your other hand to mash the hotkey is much as possible. You can do this entire race full speed in the red. If you hit barrel #2 and #4 every time you pass them, you’ll never need to slow down.
2. Get a feel for how close/far you need to be from the NPCs to get a barrel and/or turn in the barrel. You don’t need to get all up in their face, so you can save a few seconds each time getting a feel for this.
3. Why am I using barrels 2 and 4 and not 1 and 3? Because on the Alliance side, barrel 1 is inside some stupid tent that doesn’t let my ram get back out without getting stuck and I waste a ton of time.
4. Finally, steady wins the race here, and in the barking quests as well. Don’t panic about the time; just get into a rhythm and try to stay there.

Have you heard of Brewfest? It is the traditional event for all the World of Warcraft players and this time it will be held from 20 September to 4 October. Think you are going to miss out on this event? You better don’t because there are many kegs waiting for you and activities to participate in. Hurry up!

Location : The main Brewfest festivals are located near Orgrimmar and Ironforge. Beer gardens will also be set up outside of Silvermoon City, Darnassus, Undercity, Stormwind, Thunder Bluff, the Exodar, and Shattrath.

Enjoying the Brew

Complimentary mugs filled with fresh, foamy beer sit atop tables outside of all the major cities. If you drink one down while standing near one of the brewers’ stands outside of Ironforge or Orgrimmar, one of their assistants will toss you a new mug. You can also fill up your empties at any of the kegs sitting near the brewers’ stands. At Brewfest, you’ll never have to worry about how you’ll quench your thirst!

Ram Racing

In the spirit of Brewfest, adventurers can attempt to prove their ram-riding skills by speaking with Neill Ramstein or Ram Master Ray. Before they’ll trust you with their precious rams, though, you’ll need to prove you can control one! Once you’ve proven your expertise at handling the rams, you can earn Brewfest Prize Tokens by picking up kegs of brew from Kharanos or Razor Hill and bringing them back to the fest.

Seek the Saboteurs

It’s time to track down the source of the Dark Iron attacks and end them once and for all. Players will follow a trail of evidence that leads to Blackrock Depths, where parties of five players can do battle with the mastermind behind the attacks – Coren Direbrew. Direbrew is a special boss who can be encountered for the duration of Brewfest, and drops special rewards including epic weapons, trinkets, and rare mounts. Don’t let him destroy any more precious beer!

Brew of the Month Club

Some say it’s the best club in Azeroth! For 200 Brewfest Tokens, you too can join the exclusive "Brew of the Month" Club. Once a member, you are sent a new brew in the mail every month, each with different properties. If the brew is to your liking, you can purchase more from specific vendors in Ironforge or Orgrimmar. Membership lasts one year and will need to be renewed the following year – but what a flavorful and refreshing year that will be.

Barkers Wanted

The representatives of Azeroth’s major breweries want adventurers to help advertise their brews in Orgrimmar and Ironforge; just speak to one of the brewers for Barleybrew or Thunderbrew outside of Ironforge or T’chali’s Voodoo Brewery or Drohn’s Distillery outside of Orgrimmar to get started. You’ll be given a ram to hurry you on your way, spreading the word around Orgrimmar or Ironforge about who makes the best brew.

Defend the Fest

The Dark Iron Clan dwarves are raiding Brewfest once again, trying to ruin the event for everyone. As a hero of the Alliance or Horde, it is your job to put an end to the attacks – and maybe find out why they’ve decided to crash the party in the process. The Dark Iron Clan dwarves invasions occur every half hour. The pesky attackers target the kegs that dispense the free brew. If you’re around when the Dark Iron dwarves show up, lend a hand and protect the beer!

Ticket Exchange

Brewfest has undergone some changes since its first year. The currency for Brewfest prizes is now Brewfest tokens instead of tickets. If you have tickets from previous years, you can exchange them for tokens.

Ceremonial Keg-Tapping

Each day at 6:15 AM and 6:15 PM server time, High Tinker Mekkatorque (Ironforge) and Vol’jin (Orgrimmar) come out to the Brewfest grounds for a brief Tapping of the Keg ceremony. Witnessing the ceremony grants players a buff that increases experience earned by 10%.

Boing Boing has reported that Pentagon researchers have revealed that World of Warcraft (the game) is being used to plan terrorist plan to attack the White House. It is worrying as the would-be terrorists are gathering in the virtual game and planning the attack using special keywords and codes. 

Although there is no evidence that the plan is to attack White House but these type of virtual games are spooky as what the players are planning is unpredictable and imagine if they apply the same strategy of war in the game to reality? What would happen?

What is even worrying is when the MMORPG gamers gather in the virtual world and plan and plot little details of attack in the real world. This is because it is easier to disguise in the virtual world and anyone can join in the plotting of the attack anywhere in the world as long as there is internet. 

There are a few keywords and codes such as:

White Keep : 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue

Dragon Fire : unconventional weapon

110 Gold, 234 Silver : game alignment on the map with Washington DC

Therefore, the authorities are worried about the possible attack although these are just assumptions from the researchers. However, we can never deny the possibility of having such attack being planned in the famous MMORPG game. Still, what can be done to stop it? There are millions of registered players in the game and anyone can be part of the plotting should this be real.

It is official. The next expansion for World of Warcraft: Wrath of The Lich King is going to be released on November 13. This is going to be the biggest selling PC game of 2008. After all, World of Warcraft is the most played online game in the world with millions of registered players all over the world.
