WOW: WoTLK Latest Patch 3.1 News

Patch 3.1 is getting close. Here’s the latest updates on this great patch and some other cool stuff:
• WoW Mountain Dew - Yes, that’s right! This summer Mountain Dew will launch “Game Fuel” in two WoW inspired flavors. Alliance blue will be wild fruit flavor and the Horde red will be citrus cherry flavor, both will be available for a limited time. We’ll definitely keep you updated on this amazing breaking story, as it may be one of the biggest we have ever seen in the life of the game! Ok, so it’s not THAT important, but you gotta admit, it’s cool!
_
• Flasks in 3.1 – With the release of build 9722 to the PTR last week, there came a change which most didn’t notice or talk about but we thought it significant enough to mention. All flask recipes will create 2 flasks for the same amount of ingredients, but flasks will last half the amount of time. Now, while this is pretty much a lateral move, I know it will be nice to flask up for the 15 minute Sarth 3D fight without feeling like I have wasted an hour long flask to do so.
_
• Free Re-Specs in 3.1 – Characters of every class will have their talent points refunded when patch 3.1 goes live. This seemed pretty obvious to me with all the major changes to every single class that will arrive with this patch, but it is nice to have confirmation from Blizzard that this is their intent. So, just remember to re-talent yourself on release day before going to fight!
_
• Cool New Engineering Stuff in 3.1 - Another interesting little tidbit you may have missed in 3.1 patch notes is that the Pet Bombling and Lil’Smoky schemata will be made available to all engineers regardless of specialization. Engineers will also no longer have to do the repeatable quest(s) to obtain the plans for these cool little guys, instead they will be a BoP drop from mobs in Gnomeregan; specifically Thermaplugg and the Arcane Nullifiers.
_
• New Battle.net Accounts - This is pretty cool. It is an all-around solution to players managing everything Blizzard. Creating one of these accounts allows you to manage your Blizzard games, make Blizzard store purchases and log into your WoW account(s) using just one set of login information to access the game, the armory and the forums (you can also order a cool authenticator widget to go along with your account). Pretty cool, huh? Sign up for this service is completely optional “for now” but that may change in the future. If you want more info, check out the FAQ on Battle.net’s official site.
_
• iPhone Authenticator App. Now Available – Blizzard has released a cell phone version of the Battle.net account authenticator. It is available for download through the iPhone app store, and it’s free! Simply go to the app store and search for Blizzard, it will be near the bottom. Install it, attach the authenticator serial number to your Battle.net account and use the generated codes to log into WoW…simple! This app also works on the iPod touch.
_
• New WoW TCG Expansion Set is Out – Upper Deck has officially released the latest expansion in the WoW Trading Card Game. The expansion is called Blood of Gladiators and is the game’s 8th expansion set since its release three years ago. Some features include new PvP action, Ally cards, three new character cards and cool new loot cards. If you want to check it out, the booster packs usually sell for around $4 each in most places.
_
• Comic Corner - Well here it is, this week’s comic findings. I found three I liked this week, the first is from NoObz and is a pretty funny play on how clueless we all once were and how willing other players were to allow us to be clueless, it’s called Noobslatoxx and goes along with the Translatoxx one from last time. The next one I thought was pretty good is by Monkey Punchers and it involves a mage who has given up on adventuring and has decided to start a New Venture. And last but certainly not least, the comic queen over at NPC has again hit the nail on the head with this one called Toxic Guilt…all female gamers can definitely relate to this writer, and let me just say this is why I play a DPS class and NOT a healer!
_
• WoW iGoogle Theme – More and more of us are using iGoogle as our browser homepage, I mean why not with all of it’s cool widgets I can get my news and weather not to mention quirky games, videos, jokes and recipes for dinner all just by opening a browser! Now it’s even better because there is a WoW iGoogle theme which can be applied to your page…it’s not sophisticated but it is cool and it sure beats the boring default one I was using!
_
• Solo Level All The Way To L80 – Zygors Guide provides questing routes that ensure you select the right quest order that allow you to level in the fastest time possible and avoiding quests that are a waste of time and slow your leveling. Using Zygors Add-on, you can solo level all the way to level 80 ultrafast without having to group with anyone if you do not want. It’s like a premium Quest Helper for all classes including Death Knight. Check out Zygors Guide to see what it’s all about and read about the other cool bonus guides that Zygor has included as well.

3 Tips To Help You Get Started As A New WOW Player
As a new player of Warcraft, it is hard to deny that there are all sorts of feelings right before you start your game. From happy to nervous and even excited are part of the process, which is normal. If you have never played any games before you might find yourself totally clueless of what to expect but nevertheless, if you can keep these tips in mind, you can overcome anything.
1. Have fun
Think of it as a way to relieve stress. Warcraft is not just about defeating your enemies and win the game. It is also about getting new friends along the way and enjoy your life. Why stress over a game when you can enjoy World of Warcraft whether you win or lose. When you have fun, naturally the game is addictive and you will never find an excuse ‘not’ to play the game anymore.
2. Pick the character you like the most
Enough being said, it is important to have a character that you like rather than following somebody’s lead to avoid character abandonment. You wouldn’t want to leave your character after hours of playing and finding that it is not what you want.
3. When in doubt, always ask
Have you heard that if you are lost, you will never find your way out unless if you ask. So, if you encounter any problems or difficulties, ask for assistance and you will be helped by many professional players of all sorts. It is when you keep quiet that you ruin your whole game experience, making it boring or total crap.
So, if you can remember these, I am sure you will have a pleasant gaming experience. You might even want to keep on playing forever, who knows!
