Looking to figure out what the best warlock leveling spec is? We’ll talk about all three trees and how useful they are for leveling.
At low levels nothing at all compares to Affliction; it is hands down the best warlock leveling spec until level fifty or so; even then, it is even with Demonology. Affliction warlocks simply don’t have any downtime; their drains allow them to Life Tap for mana and Drain for health and never miss a beat. Warlock will feel a bit rough until you have Syphon Life and the anti-knockback talent, but once you do you can simply toss your DoT’s on an enemy or six and destroy them all while draining them for health. As for the actual talents you should use; emphasize drain improvement talents, with damage improving talents coming in second; you won’t need mana efficiency talents much.
Demonology is another popular leveling spec. After you get access to the Felguard it is arguably better than Affliction; you can take on enemies that an Affliction lock would struggly with thanks to the Felguard’s amazing resilience and damage capabilities. Affliction is still superior for those who like to take out multiple enemies at a time, though. For talents, make your Felguard as strong as possible, improving it’s damage and defense capabilities.
Destruction is fun and incredibly strong for pure damage, but it is mana innefficient and has difficulty at low levels due to knockback and weak defenses; so don’t go Destruction until you have very good gear, preferably not respeccing until Northrend. Once you DO have the gear for it, though, Destruction is amazing; you’ll kill enemies with two or three spells, easily. Just don’t jump the gun and change over too soon, or you’ll regret it.
