What’s happening in the world of warcraft? Here’s some of the latest news:

  • World First Algalon Kill Goes to Ensidia – That’s right, folks! Ensidia claimed another mega milestone with the world first Algalon kill in Ulduar 10! The European super-guild which formed as a result of the merger of SK-Gaming and Nihilum last year has added another world first to their extensive repertoire. Algalon, the true final boss in Ulduar who is only available for one hour each week and only after all other bosses have been defeated on hard mode has been a bit of a challenge for any guilds skilled enough to even get to him.
  • PTR Patch Notes – A new set of patch notes for 3.1.2 which is currently on the PTR was released a few days ago. One of the notable changes is that Wintergrasp daily quests have been changed to a weekly format instead.
  • Blizz Gets Their Own Channel - Blizzard has announced a partnership with ESL TV to bring streaming footage of e-sport competitions of their games. The service is available to Warcraft subscribers by going to the Account Management page of WoW’s main site. The site includes both archived games and live games, so for players who like to watch the world’s elite have it out complete with commentary…this is definitely for you! I thought it was pretty cool!
  • Crusader Title Changes - If you’re leveling through the Argent Tournament quests, we would suggest steering clear of the Crusader title until you have covered all city reps and you have plenty of gold. Why? I’ll tell you why! As it sits right now if you keep from turning in the last Valiant quest for the achievement you do not lock off the ability to do both Valiant and Champion quests. By keeping this option open, you can earn an additional 36 gold per day (more than 1k gold per month)! Blizzard has said they will make changes to this soon to smooth everything out, but for now I would hold off on the Crusader title and collect the extra cash. When they fix this we’ll let you know!

  • Nerfs to Stealth Detection Items – Well I must say, I didn’t see this one coming (likely because I was not wearing my goggles). Blizzard has nerfed items which grant stealth detection as they felt they were becoming too mandatory in arenas, "forcing" players to use lower level equipment even when more powerful items were available to them.

  • Game Fuel Site Online - A few issues ago we told you about the upcoming WoW-themed Mountain Dew game fuel, well the promotional web site has now gone live! The site will require that you register and give some personal information for contest purposes, then you will be free to click, survey, watch videos and visit networking sites in order to earn tokens which will then be redeemable for awesome prizes! There are even vanity pets and a trip to BlizzCon ’09 up for grabs! This contest appears to be available to US players only…sorry rest of the world!

  • BlizzCon Goers Will Get Grunty – Well, it has been confirmed! Everyone who attends BlizzCon or orders the at home pay per view version from Direct TV will receive an exclusive in-game vanity pet. This year it is Grunty the Murloc Marine. This tiny terror is fully armored and comes equipped with a gauss rifle, which he’ll occasionally fire into the air to make sure no invisible spacecraft are swooping in to attack. This is awesome and cute and just think…no hair to clean up!

  • Ulduar 10 Hard Mode Weapons Buffed - This is great news for 10-man raiders! Weapons that drop from hard-mode Ulduar 10 fights will now be ilvl 232, this is up from ilvl 226 which is a half tier jump. This makes sense as it puts the Ulduar 10 hard-mode weapons on par with the normal 25 drops which was already the case for the armor rewards. Players who already have these weapons will see them adjusted accordingly.
  • BlizzCon Badges - If you were one of the lucky ones to get tickets on Saturday for BlizzCon ’09 you will want to check this out! A game art student from Laguna College of Art and Design is selling customized character badges to put on your lanyard! She did some last year and did a really nice job, you can see her work here. So, if you want to put a little custom touch around your neck at BlizzCon, order yours before June 14th and save $10!
