Patch 3.3 is getting closer to release and here’s some news to still your eager:

PTR Patch 3.3 Notes Updated – A new build was pushed to the PTR this week and of course some new patch notes to go with it. There are some more general bug fixes, a bunch of pet changes, changes to battleground experience and also some additional class changes that were not present before (Paladins can stop QQ’ing now).

Emblems of Triumph Post 3.3 – Blizzard poster, Bornakk, stated in a post this week that “for the time being the intent is to have everything that currently drops Emblems of Conquest drop Emblems of Triumph” after the release of Patch 3.3. This will allow players easier access to tier 9 level gear and weapons so even those players who are not hardcore raiders will have a fighting chance in Icecrown. Along with this change, the heroic daily quest will reward the all new Emblem of Frost which will be the highest level emblem in the game post 3.3 and can also be earned by downing Icecrown bosses and completing the new weekly raid quests.

New Tier 10 Sets Revealed - Blizzard has revealed the new tier 10 armor sets for some of the classes which will be available with the release of patch 3.3. Some of them are quite…um…interesting. If you want a looksie, head on over and watch the YouTube video preview.

Icecrown Raid Preview Now Available – Blizzard has released their preview of the Icecrown Citadel raid instance which will be going live with patch 3.3. Some of the more interesting points from the preview include the fact that the raid instance will have 10 and 25 player modes which will each feature 12 encounters. Each one of the encounters can be fought on normal or heroic modes and players will be able to use a new user interface feature to toggle easily between the two difficulties. Also the rewards for the raid will begin at item level 251 for normal ten man mode and go up to item level 277 for the 25 man heroic mode. There’s lots of cool information in the announcement, so you should definitely check it out here.

New Loot Options in 3.3 – Players have noticed some loot option changes recently on the PTR. It appears with 3.3 we will have the option to select an option to “roll for disenchant”. This is actually pretty cool and will give enchanters a clear option for winning rolls on stuff no one else wants. Order of priority will be need, greed, disenchant and pass when deciding who gets a loot item.

Upcoming Achievement Changes – No content patch would be complete without some new achievements, right? Well 3.3 will deliver on that, bringing with it not only a few new achievements but an all new title as well. The new achievements and title will be based on players using the new Dungeon tool to find random players to PuG with. Really? Tangible rewards for pugging? Sweet!

Battle.net Accounts Mandatory – It was announced yesterday that Battle.net accounts will be mandatory for World of Warcraft players beginning November 11th, 2009. This mandate has been set by Blizzard and has tons of people in the WoW community whining about it, but it will need to be done like it or not! So, head on over today and get your account converted and beat the rush of procrastinators that will no doubt be hitting the servers HARD on November 8th!

Blizzard Changing Nameplate Visibility – Blizzard poster, Zarhym posted some information this week about an interesting change that is in effect right now on the PTR. Blizzard made some changes to the way character nameplates (the ones floating above player’s heads) work. First off, nameplate vision has been extended so players will be able to spot each other from further away. They have also made adjustments to some line of site issues and have made it so players will no longer be able to see nameplates through anything which completely blocks line of site (think walls and doors not pillars and other objects). The last change Zarhym talked about was that multiple nameplates of the same type will now overlap so if there is a big group of the same mob (ie: Onyxia Whelps) in one area there will only be one nameplate displayed for all of them.

Jaina and Sylvanas Get Updates – As Blizzard continues to leak information about Icecrown we continue to bring it to you. as part of the updates this week to their Under Development Page they have listed official bios for Jaina Proudmore and Sylvanas Windrunner, two ladies who will likely play a large part in Arthas’ undoing. As it states in the bios, both of these ladies have a tangled and messy history with Arthas and have suffered greatly because of him so now will be their time to make him pay for the pain and suffering he has caused them!! You can read their new Bios over on the Under Development Page.
