However, the release of The Mists of Pandaria is not the only event that ever gamer and player is looking forward to. There is also the BlizzCon 2012. This annual convention for players and gamers who all love World of Warcraft has been held every fall. In fact, the first ever annual convention of the BlizzCon started on 2005. And, it has never failed to hold this annual convention ever since it started except in 2006.

However, Blizzard Entertainment has just announced that there will be no convention this year. Blizzard explained that due to jam packed schedule, BlizzCon has been cancelled for this year. With the upcoming new release of the newest expansion pack, The Mists of Pandaria, for World of Warcraft and all the other upcoming events and activities that will be hold in the later part of the year, maybe Blizzard thought that it would be best to focus on these things first.

It may sound disappointing to countless players, gamers and fans of the World of Warcraft for having heard of the cancellation of the BlizzCon. However, Blizzard has said that there are still other major gaming tournaments and other great events for them to look forward to. The cancellation may be disappointing and devastating for some people who have been waiting for annual convention. But, the brighter side of it is that there are a number of upcoming events and activities to expect.

• Ozzy Appearing at BlizzCon - Well, it’s no longer a rumor and for most it isn’t even a surprise! This week it was confirmed that Ozzy Osbourne will be making a “special appearance” at BlizzCon this year. Now I don’t know if this means that the original Prince of Darkness will be rockin’ out on stage or what the deal is, but I do know that his appearance will be part of the DirectTV package fans can order. Now between this and the adorable gun-toting Murloc, how can you NOT order the package? Check it out here now.

• New Races in the Next Expansion – There seems to be a general consensus amongst all WoW newsies that the next expansion will bring with it two new races. The Alliance will likely see the arrival of the Worgen in their ranks and the Horde will be joined by the Goblins. This is still just speculation at this point, but all we’re really waiting for is the final nod from the powers that be. The next expansion was rumored to involve the great sea, the maelstorm or the emerald dream but according to MMO Champion the name of the expansion will be Cataclysm and will not feature a new continent but instead a revamped Azeroth. The Level cap will only be raised to 85 this time. Read more about the rumors here. Will Wotlk live as long as BC did or are Blizzard planning to actually start launching one expansion per year as they have stated before? Rumors whispers that Patch 3.3 is the last main patch of Wotlk and a launch annoucement is to be made at BlizzCon 09…

• Blizz to Make an Appearance at PAX – Blizzard has appeared on the list of sponsors for Penny Arcade’s PAX Convention being held September 4-6th in Seattle. The PAX Convention always offers a great line-up of musicians, gamers and developers with a nice open floor full of the latest games to check out and play. Also, PAX is happening post-BlizzCon so if you go you will likely get to check out whatever Blizzard chooses to display…StarCraft II…Diablo 3…or maybe some Cataclysm demos…?? PAX tickets are available now as well as pre-registration, so head on over to their site and check it out!

• Faction Restrictions Lifted on PvP Servers – With the arrival of Patch 3.2 last week we saw all kinds of extra goodies added to the game in addition to many long awaited changes. One thing that somehow managed to escape us until the live release is that there are no longer faction restrictions on PvP servers! Many people thought this was a bug at first, but Eyonix confirmed that the change was in fact intentional and was implemented as part of the prep for the incoming faction change service.So, How Big is Ice Crown Anyhow? – In a response to a thread in the tanking forums this week Blizzard poster Ghostcrawler dropped an interesting little tid-bit of information for anyone paying attention. He talks about Icecrown Citadel and refers to it’s 31 bosses…yes, 31! This is way more than Ulduar’s count or Karazhan or even Naxx. No matter how you slice it, 31 raid bosses is a ton of bosses to go through — Icecrown could be a return to a really epic, large-scale instance. Bring it on!

Did you know that Blizzard arranged a special game for those waiting in queue to buy the tickets (sold out right now so don’t think of going to get the tickets now!).

The game is known as Failoc-alypse. Take the form as Terran Marine with a gun, a Draenei Death Knight, or a Witchdoctor. The mission? Take down as many fail-locs as possible.

You still get to play the game even though the tickets sold out.

With thousands of people on queue, it is going to be really hard to get those tickets.

Have you read the Blizzcon Ticket Queue System to understand how to get those tickets. Better read them fast because you will need those info.

Here is a quick recap on what you need to do in order to get those tickets.

1. Create a Battle.net account.

2. Update your payment information. Very important because doing this way before the purchase will speed things up.

3. On the day of ticket sale, if the shopping activity reaches a certain level, you will be in queue. This is to control the ticket sale is based on first come first served basis. When you are in queue it is not guaranteed that you will get your tickets. However, if you are not in queue, then you are able to purchase the tickets immediately.

4. Once you are in queue, you will have to wait for your turn. When you turn has come, you will have 15 minutes to finalize your purchase. After 15 minutes you will be purged and you will have to start the queue again.

Make sure you understand how it works so you can get your tickets rather than getting stuck at home with DirectTV.

The Blizzard Store’s queue system is designed to help streamline the purchasing process for visitors during periods of high demand. Whenever a certain number of store visitors are checking out simultaneously, additional visitors who attempt to check out will be added to a “wait list” on a first-come, first-served basis. While in this queue, the Blizzard Store provides you with regular feedback about the estimated wait time and the remaining quantity of items you are attempting to purchase. When you reach the front of the queue, you will be able to proceed to checkout and complete your purchase.

To win the ticket, you have to write an original Wrath of The Lich King related story of about 700 words and send it to him at his blog. You can find the email in his blog. The due is on 14th September 2008 so hurry up if you don’t want to miss the chance of winning the Blizzcon ticket.

The contest is open to US residents only so to those who are outside US, I guess you will have to find other ways.

The winner will have to find his or her own transport and accommodation to get to the Blizzcon. Then, the winner will have to meet up with Pixelated Executioner at the gate to get in. He will be taking a photograph so he can publish the story later in his blog. To those who hate to be in the spotlight, you can back off from the contest.

Once the winner has met up with him, the rest will be the winner’s to decide, whether the winner wants to go here and there, nothing to do with the organiser anymore.

It is a sad news for those who visited the Blizzcon site to purchase the tickets but cheer up as Blizzard announced that they are selling another 3000 Blizzcon tickets for the fans.

The only problem is the tickets will be sold off via lottery. That means you have to have an active Blizzcon account as of on August 12 or else you don’t stand a chance which seems cruel but it is better than no chance at all.

Blizzcon is the biggest event for World of Warcraft fans and nothing else beat the importance of attending the 2-day event.

I do hope that those who wish to get the tickets will get the tickets. Let us cross our fingers and hope for the best.

The next Blizzcon will take place in Anaheim Convention Center, located at 800 West Katella Avenue, Anaheim, CA 92802 on October 10 and 11 from 10am to 10pm. You must get the Blizzcon ticket to attend the event. Tickets are first come first served basis and you can get your tickets here.
