Wrath of the Lich King – Available In Stores Now! Wrath of The Lich King is available in stores since the release on Nov 13, 2008. Way back on the 2007 Blizzcon event, Bizzard first announced some of the cool features of this new expansion:
- Level cap raised to 80
- Battle with the Lich King at the Frozen Throne
- One new playable class: Death Knight
- A new continent: Northrend
- The creation of a new profession: Inscription
- Profession level cap raised to 450

- Improved Graphics Engine (applied to shaders, flame effects, water appearance and detailed shadows)
- New factions including the Speartusk (Walrus-men), Frenzyheart (Wolverine-men), The Oracles (evolved form of murlocs) and the Taunka, a racial cousin to the Tauren
This expansion is have so many new features that will excite your game and let you fully enjoy the game. With a bigger land than Outland, new dungeons and fresh loot, new monsters, new armies and excellent design, you are getting very spoilt for the game. You can even get these:
- Achievements for both the expansion and existing content
- New non-inventory storage for Mounts, Vanity Pets, and various tokens.
- Built-in threat meter
- New Calendar feature
- Ability to link professions via chat
Another very exciting new feature in Wrath of the Lich King is that all raid content will be available as either a 10- or 25-person dungeon with completely independent progression paths. Both the 10- and 25-person versions will be the same dungeon; the look, layout, and design of the dungeon will remain the same. However, each will be adjusted, tuned, and balanced for its respective player size. Northrend is a new continent that is way bigger than the Outland. It is located at the north of Azeroth.
It is said that Northrend is covered in snow and icy but the developers mentioned that only certain parts of Northrend will be totally frozen. In Northrend, The Forsaken and their Banshee Queen, Sylvanas, have also arrived with a new contagion that they hope will prove to be effective against the undead minions of the Lich King. The Forsaken are seeking vengeance for being subjected to Arthas’s magic. They have recently created a settlement called “New Agamand” in the Howling Fjord. Now that the expansion is released, there is more to expose about the new regions and new features. Because Northrend is finally here, there are tons of things you can do: 1. Train your professions up to a skill of 350 so that you can train your Grand Master which will in turn award you with the Professional Grand Master. 2. If you are in the level 70’s you probably have two professions so why not train them both up to become Grand Master and you will receive the award of Working Day and Night. 3. If you have managed to train the fishing, first aid and cooking to the Grand Master rank, you will receive the achievement of Skills To Pay The Bills. 4. The two starter zone in Northrend are Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord so take some time to explore the grounds and you will receive two achievements, that are Explore Borean Tundra and Explore Howling Fjord. 5. You might want to try riding through Dragonblight. 6. It is best to just settle at one zone so that you can complete the 150 quests in one zone and be awarded with the achievement of “I’ve toured The Fjord” or “Nothing Boring about Borean”. Travelling between Fjord and Borean There is no need to go back to your capital city to hop on another zeppelin or boat in order to get to Fjord from Borean or vice versa. You can travel through the service of the big turtles. You just need to know where to find them: Unu’pe (Map coordinates: 77, 50 – Borean Tundra to Dragonblight) – This is the Tuskarr settlement in Borean Tundra Moa’ki Harbor (Map coordinates 48, 76 – Dragonblight to Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord) – This is the only stop between Unu’pe and Kamagua Kamagua (Map coordinates 25, 57 – Howling Fjord to Dragonblight) – The Kamagua side of the world
Flying Paths
This is often a problem for starters. If you want to know about the flying path for both Alliance and Horde, keep on reading. Alliance path in Howling Fjord:
- Pricilla Winterwind in Valgarde (60,33), southernmost on the map, is the first FP you’ll most likely come across, as the boat from Menethil docks in Valgarde.
- Greer Orehammer is in Westguard Keep (31,44), just down the road northwest from Valgarde.
- Northeast of Westguard you’ll find James Ormsby in Fort Wildervar (60,16), northernmost on the map.
- The neutral flightmaster in Kamagua is Kip Tralwskip (25,58). Kamagua on an island of its own off to the west, but there’s a lift that will take you over from the shore.
Alliance path in Borean Tundra
:
- First off is Tomas Riverwell (59,68) in Valiance Keep, where the boat from Stormwind goes to.
- The other Alliance-specific flight master is the awesomely-named Kara Thricestar (57,20) at the Fizzcrank Airstrip, up the road north from Valiance.
- There are two dragon flight masters, working for the Kirin Tor. The first one, named Surristrasz (45,34) is at the Amber Ledge; Amber Ledge is the only way to get to the Transitus Shield at first.
- Once you get to the Transitus Shield, Warmage Adami (33,34) will fly you back and forth.
- Bilko Drifstpark, at the Tuskarr village of Unu’pe, will get you where you need to go, Horde or Alliance. He’s not particular. Unu’pe is on the east coast of the Tundra.
You can use the path through Dragonblight as well:
- Cid Flounderfix (47,66) is a neutral flight master at the Tuskarr Mo’aki Harbor on the south coast.
- Derek Rammel (40,26) flies out of Fordragon Hold in northwest Dragonblight.
- Nethestrasz, of the Wyrmcrest Accord, resides in the Wyrmcrest Temple smack in the middle of the zone (60,51).
- Palena Silvercloud is the first hippogryph master I’ve noticed in Northrend thus far. She can be found at (29,55) in Stars’ Rest.
- Rodney Wells (77,50) is in Wintergarde Keep in the east of the zone, towards Naxxramas.
********** Horde flying path for Howling Fjord:
- Vengeance Landing, where the zeppelin from Undercity docks, has its bat handlers at (79,30), and yes, there seem to be two of them (?).
- At Camp Winterhoof, a Taunka settlement, you’ll find Celea Frozenmane (50,12).
- Lilleth Radescu (26,35) flies bats out of the Apothecary Camp out in the west.
- The neutral flightmaster in Kamagua is Kip Tralwskip (25,58). Kamagua on an island of its own off to the west, but there’s a lift that will take you over from the shore.
- Tobias Sarkhoff is at New Agamand in the south (52,68).
Horde flying path for Borean Tundra
:
- Turida Coldwind, in Warsong Hold, will be your first stop in Borean Tundra if you came here by zeppelin from Orgrimmar.
- Omu Spiritbreeze (78,38) is in the Taunkale Village, where the Taunka live.
- Kimbiza (50,11) resides in Bor’Gorok Outpost.
So, mostly you need to know how to get to Northrend before you can proceed. Getting to Northrend is easy. If you are Alliance, you will need to get to the northernmost dock at Stormwind Harbor to get to Borean Tundra. Otherwise, you can take the boat out of Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands to get to Howling Fjord. If you are Horde, the zeppelin in Ogrimmar leads to Borean Tundra and the zeppelin out of Undercity will take you to Howling Fjord. It is that easy to travel to Northrend starter zones. However, as you have reached level 77, you will be able to use your flying mount. It used to be a quest but now you can train in Dalaran for about 1000g. Blizzcon 2009 Tickets: Sold Out
Have you got yours? Seriously at the time when the Blizzcon 2009 tickets were sold out, there were many still on queue and got frustrated. Still, there is no one to be blamed for that, after all the policy is first come first served.
Did you know that Blizzard arranged a special game for those waiting in queue to buy the tickets (sold out right now so don’t think of going to get the tickets now!).
The game is known as Failoc-alypse. Take the form as Terran Marine with a gun, a Draenei Death Knight, or a Witchdoctor. The mission? Take down as many fail-locs as possible.
You still get to play the game even though the tickets sold out.
