• Patch 3.1 PTR is Here! – Patch 3.1 hit the PTR yesterday morning. This much anticipated patch brings with it Dual Specs, many new achievements and a plethora of class changes and tweaks! I see this as useful for gold-farming…if you are a healing class, for example, but want a DPS spec to kill stuff solo, no more paying to respec.

• Dual Spec Pricey – It had been confirmed, dual speccing will not be cheap, as a matter of fact it will cost 1,000G. Some may be shocked by this price tag, but I think it’s about what I expected. A friend with an 80 druid and is paying 100Gevery time he specs back and forth from Feral to Resto (which he does a lot). I think this will save many players money!

• New Glyphs In 3.1 – We will definitely be seeing some new glyphs along with patch 3.1. I am certainly glad to see the profession of Inscription expanding and along with it the other, older professions are getting some love too. There are plenty of new recipes for all professions coming with this patch, we will tell you more once we’ve had an opportunity to explore.

• New Pets and Mounts in 3.1 Data Files – Now, we’re not saying all of the cool stuff in the data files will definitely make it into the game right away, but we did notice that there are some sweet new vanity pets and mounts in there. I have to say I am most psyched about the rideable mechanical Gnome head.

• Instance Throttling – Many of us have seen the "additional instances could not be launched" message recently and wondered what the heck?? Well this was explained in a blue post this week over on the EU forums. Basically it is an attempt to fix instance performance issues. If too many instances are running at the same time, the server can get bogged down and cause players to experience lag and even crashes. So, for right now they figure it is better to have players waiting a few minutes than crashing and causing party wipes. I happen to agree, and hope the permanent fix they’re working on is done soon.

• BlizzCon 2009 Announced – Blizzard announced this week that BlizzCon ’09 will be held from Friday 8/21 through Saturday 8/22 at the Anaheim Convention Center in LA. As usual BlizzCon will be packed with cool displays, game trials and awesome gifts!
